  1. Every document must first be certified either by an SRA-registered solicitor or by a UK notary public (we advise which is required; solicitor certification is included unless a notary is specifically needed).
  2. The certified document must then obtain an FCDO apostille.
Without this apostille, no embassy will legalise the document.
  3. Once apostilled, the document is submitted to the chosen embassy for final stamping.

A notary stamp alone is never sufficient; an apostille is always required before any embassy will act.

Types of UK Documents Eligible for Egypt Attestation

Many documents can be attested for use in Egypt. But not every document is treated the same way. Think about it. You wouldn’t use a business contract in the same way as a birth certificate. The Egyptian embassy decides what types of documents need their stamp of approval. Each document type has its own process. Knowing what’s eligible can help you avoid delays and make sure your paperwork is done correctly the first time.

Why Do You Need Egypt Embassy Legalisation?

If you plan to use UK documents in Egypt, you usually need them legalised by the Egyptian consulate. This is not just a rule. It’s how Egyptian ministries, schools, employers, and banks make sure your British papers are real and trustworthy. Whether you’re moving to Egypt for school, work, business, or family, the local authorities will ask for legalised certificates. It’s an extra step, but it helps everyone trust that your document is the real thing. Ever wondered why the process feels so formal? That’s because both the UK and Egypt want to protect people from fraud.

How Our Egyptian Embassy Attestation Process Works

We keep things simple at L4U. First, you contact us and tell us which documents you need to legalise. Next, we help check the documents follow attestation criteria. If a document needs certification from a solicitor, we handle it. Then, we submit documents to the FCDO for the apostille service. Once that’s done, we arrange embassy attestation. Finally, you choose how you want documents returned. We scan and send digital copies so you’ve got a backup, too.

Every stage is tracked, so you know where your paperwork is at all times. We prioritise speed, but never sacrifice accuracy. If you’re unsure, just ask – we’re happy to guide you through.

number10 Documents Must Be Legalised by Certified Notary Solicitor

Many documents, like business contracts and legal declarations, must be certified first. This means a UK notary public or solicitor checks the document and confirms it’s genuine. The notary public will stamp and sign. Certification is sometimes skipped for government-issued documents, but it’s key for most other types.

Why is certification so important? It tells the embassy that your document isn’t forged. We have long-standing partnerships that make this step fast and secure for our clients. If you’re not sure whether you need one, we advise on the best route.

number11 Apostille Certificate

Once the document is certified, it needs an apostille certificate from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The apostille certifies the document as genuine under international law. Without it, Egyptian officials may reject your papers. Our apostille service is included in most packages, so you don’t need to worry about extra steps.

People often wonder if an apostille is different from attestation. Simple answer? Attestation is the whole process. The apostille is one big part of it.

number12 FCDO and Hague Stamp

The FCDO attaches the official apostille, which is a Hague stamp, to your document. This is part of the Hague Convention to make sure documents are trusted between countries. With that, your UK document is recognised in most places worldwide, including Egypt. However, the Egyptian consulate still needs to check and stamp the document, too.

Why the extra stamp? Some countries want added assurance their laws are being respected. We make sure your documents get every required stamp so you have no worries at the Egyptian border.

Fees and Processing Time

The cost and speed for Egypt attestation depends on the type and number of documents you need processed. Straightforward civil documents can usually be done in 7–10 working days. Business paperwork or more complex documents might take a little longer. Fees are clear upfront and cover everything from notary public certification, apostille certificate, FCDO processing, and embassy charges.

At L4U, there are no hidden costs. We price competitively for all attestation services. If we can’t get your document attested, you get your fee back. That’s our promise.

Why Choose Us for Egyptian Embassy Attestation?

With Legalisation4You, you’re working with the UK’s top team in legislation service. We make sure your documents meet every attestation rule. If something needs a solicitor, we sort it out. We take care of getting your documents to the FCDO for their apostille service, and we handle everything with the Egyptian consulate from start to finish.

Once approved, you pick how you want your documents returned. We’ll even send digital copies just in case. Our fees are clear, and there are never surprise charges. We guarantee your service. If your documents can’t be attested, we refund you, no questions asked. That’s our commitment to every customer.

FAQs

Q

Is attestation required for Egypt work or student visas?

A

Yes, most work and student visas for Egypt need documents to be attested. The Egyptian embassy requires proof that certificates, degrees, and other necessary papers are authentic. Employers and schools will ask for properly legalised and attested originals or copies before approving your application. Skipping this step may lead to delays or rejections. Attestation ensures your qualifications and identity are trusted.

Q

I’m relocating to Egypt, which personal documents should I legalise?

A

When moving to Egypt, you’ll need to legalise passports, birth certificates, marriage certificates, and sometimes a criminal record check. If you have children, their documents should be prepared too. Some authorities may also request proof of address or divorce documents. It’s a good idea to check with Egyptian officials in your area before travelling to avoid missing any essential paperwork.

Q

Are attested documents accepted by Egyptian ministries and institutions?

A

Yes, Egyptian ministries, universities, and official organisations recognise and accept fully attested documents. This involves verification by a solicitor, an apostille stamp, and final approval at the Egyptian consulate in the UK. Once these steps are complete, the document is ready for use in Egypt for purposes such as studying, working, opening a bank account, or handling legal matters.

Q

Do you offer document collection or courier services?

A

Yes, we provide secure collection and courier services for your documents. We understand how important it is for your paperwork to arrive safely and on time. Whether you need pickup from your home or office or require fast international shipping, we can arrange it. Let us know your needs when placing the order, and we’ll provide updates every step of the way.
